Historic Highlands Association of REALTORS® (HHAR) was formerly called Cumberland Board of REALTORS® whose first charter was dated January 11th, 1919. On March 10, 1999 the National Association approved a requested name change to Historic Highlands Association of REALTORS®. HHAR is comprised of REALTOR® and affiliate members. HHAR celebrated 100 years of service on January 11, 2019 making them the second oldest REALTOR® association in the state of Maryland.

The Mission of the Historic Highlands Association of REALTORS®(HHAR) is to serve its membership and the community by delivering programs and services that will continue to enhance matters involving the real estate industry.  Through our collective efforts with NAR, MAR and other local associations, HHAR aspires to:

  1. Foster a proactive relationship with local and state legislative leaders and to be the leading advocate of the real estate industry
  2. Promote integrity and high ethical standards of conduct within the real estate profession for the protection and benefit of the public and the membership
  3. Provide community outreach and promote and support community involvement
  4. Represent the public’s interest by supporting the right to own, transfer and use real property
  5. Enhance the image of REALTORS® by informing the public of the value of working with a REALTOR®

REALTORS® are held to a higher standard of Code of Ethics than that of real estate sales agents. In addition to the ethics, rules and regulations set fourth by the Department of Labor and Licensing, REALTORS® are required to abide by a set of Code of Ethics set by the National Association of REALTORS® and are required to be retrained on these ethics every two years in order to maintain their title as a REALTOR®
